"Homegrown: From the Roots to the Fruit"

PEP's 20th Anniversary & Ate Allyson's Retirement Party

Saturday, June 4th, 2022 from 6:00 PM - 11:00 PM
St. Joseph's Arts Society |
1401 Howard St, San Francisco, CA 94103
Pin@y Educational Partnerships (PEP) is 20 years old and we are excited to gather as community to celebrate this milestone and the Pinay who envisioned it all, Dr. Allyson Tintiangco-Cubales! Under Ate Allyson's guidance, what began in 2001 as a humble lunchtime mentoring project has grown into one of the most comprehensive ethnic studies programs in the United States.

Ate Allyson established PEP to holistically address the needs of the Filipino/a/x American community in the Excelsior district of San Francisco, California. PEP started as a collaboration between San Francisco State University and Balboa High School and expanded to providing programs and services to students at Burton High School, Longfellow Elementary School, Denman Middle School, and Skyline College.

In the past two decades, PEP has served thousands of K–12 and community college students, and trained 350 undergraduate and graduate PEP teachers, the majority of whom went onto earn advanced degrees, including almost 30 doctorates. We invite you to "Homegrown: From Roots to the Fruit" to recognize all who have contributed to PEP and to celebrate Ate Allyson's retirement from the directorship.
