PEP began at Longfellow Elementary in 2005 through partnerships with Allyson Tintiangco-Cubales and Longfellow teachers; Helen Serafino-Agar, Sheryll Carrillo-Abad, and Joanna Maderazo. These teachers hosted PEP as an after school program that provided a curriculum centered around Filipino and Filipino American history, as well as providing students with critical skills to serve their communities. Through the years, Longfellow has become an integral part of the PEP educational pipeline as it has become the starting point for many students on their road to academic, social, and personal transformations.
