Looking for an opportunity to try out teaching? 
​Pin@y Educational Partnerships (PEP) is looking for teachers for the 2025-2026 school year!

We are looking for San Francisco State University and neighboring Bay Area upper division undergraduate & graduate students or those who have already graduated from college who are interested in teaching
​Filipina/o/x American Studies to elementary, middle, and high school students!

spring 2026 Teacher Callout

All applications must include the following: 
  1. Cover letter stating your reasons for wanting to participate in PEP. Please include your preference in teaching either high school, middle school, or elementary school students.
  2. Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  3. Include a 1-page teaching philosophy that focuses on your values, beliefs, and approaches to teaching and learning.
  4. List of courses in the areas of Filipino American Studies, Asian American Studies, Ethnic Studies, and Education. *You can include an unofficial transcript.
  5. List of two references (at least one professor). Include their names, titles, phone numbers, and email addresses.
PEP Teacher Requirements & Commitments:
  • Be in good academic standing, upper division college status, and/or graduated from college.
  • Year-long commitment for the 2025-2026 San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) Calendar
  • Teaching one or two days a week for about 2 hours
  • Weekly PEP Teacher Meetings: Asian American Studies 685/688 - Teaching Practicum (7:15-10:00 PM on Wednesdays)
  • Participate in all PEP projects, field trips, and fundraisers
  • Be available to participate in at least one speaker series, conference, and/or workshops
  • Be available to teach during SF State’s Winter & Spring Break
Important Dates
  • Interviews are scheduled for Thursday-Friday, June 5-6, 2025
  • If selected, you MUST ATTEND the following trainings/retreats:
    • PEP Orientation: Wednesday, June 11, 2025
    • TIBAK Training + Fall Retreat: August 5-10, 2025
    • First Wednesday Night Meeting: 2nd or 3rd Wednesday of August 2025
    • First Day of SFUSD Fall Semester: Monday, August 18, 2025
You will gain the following skills, experiences, and incentives:
  • Training in Ethnic Studies and Filipina/o/x American studies
  • Training in critical pedagogy
  • Curriculum & lesson plan development
  • In-class teaching experience in K-high school classrooms in San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD)
  • Opportunities to present at national, regional, and local academic and professional conferences
  • Be part of an expansive PEP alumni network spanning over 20 years
What we are looking for (but not limited to):
  • Upper Division undergraduates, recent college graduates, and graduate students majoring, minoring, or have taken: Ethnic Studies, Asian American Studies, education, and/or liberal studies
    • Students who have taken AAS 350, 352, 353, or 593 - Asian Americans in Education (At least one Filipina/o American Studies course) at San Francisco State University
  • Students who have worked closely with BIPOC youth
  • Students who are interested in pursuing careers in education and service
  • Students who can speak and/or understand Filipino language
  • Students who have a strong commitment to social justice
