CALEB PASCUALPhillip & Sala Burton High School Teacher My name is Caleb Pascual and I am a first year grad student at SF State in the Asian American Studies MA Program. I have been a PEP teacher for almost a year, and it is a great experience not only because we get the experience of teaching Filipino American Studies, but also because through teaching, we impact students by allowing them to familiarize themselves with their background and identity through learning historic facts about their community, which can lead them to more strongly embrace their ethnic identity as Filipino Americans. Coming from predominantly white suburban San Diego, I was changed through Ethnic Studies as it allowed me to learn about myself, be part of a community with many fellow Asian Americans and help me become proud of my background as an Asian/Filipino American, which is the exact impact I strive to make on the students I teach. When not with PEP, some of my favorite hobbies include Boxing, Muay Thai and even just riding around SF in my Electric Scooter.
